MATCH NEWS:
*Sunday 13th September – Castles Lake, Championship Leg 6.Draw Main Car Park,08:00-08:15, fish from 09:30 – 14:30. Please leave the lake midnight Saturday 12th September. You can return to fish Sunday after the match has completed and after those taking part in the match have packed up and left their swims. Do not walk the lake until those who have taken part in the match have packed up and left their swims.
*Tuesday 15th September – Castles Lake, coaching children with disabilities for the day. CANCELLED
*Sunday 26th September – River Thames, Thames Windsor, Mike Cole Thames Cup.
*Tuesday 29th September – Castles Lake
This is the replacement date for the 15th.
Because of this change we need to get sufficient anglers to help coach the children as also helpers with the catering and other functions. Can you therefore let me know ASAP whether you can assist on the 29th September 2026 , and also should we have to cancel the event due to extreme weather conditions if you would be available on the 6th October 2026.The event will take the usual format ie;
Set up from 0800
Breakfast from 0900
Fishing from 1000 until 1230
Lunch 1230 to 1315.
Extra fishing from 1300 to 1345 for those children who would like too
1400 Presentation of medals and certificates
1430 end of event

NEW INVASIVE CRAYFISH WARNING:
New invasive crayfish species spreading through the Lea Valley
Virile crayfish are now considered the most dominant crayfish species in the Lea Valley and are spreading rapidly upstream, raising concerns for the health of our waterways and the wildlife that depends on them.
As anglers and other recreational water users move between locations, we all have a role to play in slowing the spread of invasive non-native species.
– Check your gear, clothing and footwear for mud, plants and animals
– Clean everything thoroughly before leaving the site
– Dry all equipment completely before using it elsewhere
Practising good biosecurity helps protect our fisheries, wildlife, and waterways for the future.
WATER TAPS:
Please DO NOT use the water taps that are situated near the dip tanks as it’s not safe to drink. Please only use the taps that are at the bungalow (front) or toilet block (side) as these are off the mains supply and is safe to drink, Signs have been put up near all taps letting members know if it is safe or not to drink.
CRAY FISH TRAPS:
Please DO NOT remove Cray Fish Traps from the Lakes and River they are there to protect Our banks from being mined by the Cray Fish causing banks to collapse. If you find a trap is causing you a problem or you are snagged on a Trap, contact a member of Our Fishery Management Team or Bailiff Team.
CHECK – CLEAN – DRY:
Wherever you decide to fish, especially on Our Complex, make sure you Dip all Nets, Slings, Mats and Cradles before you fish and again if you change Lakes before you fish and always make sure you carry with you and use, Hand Sanitizer to protect yourself.
FRONT GATE ACCESS/EXIT:
Please can members refrain from locking two links of the chain to the lock as members coming on to the complex afterwards are have some issue’s opening the lock. (until the chain is shortened).
Also, can members put the number pad facing the outside as this will make it easier and quicker to get on to the complex for other members.
CLUB RULES:

GUEST PERMITS:
Day Guest Permit’s must be obtained before entering the society’s fisheries. See Club Rule 6 for full details. Permits can be obtained from the Clubmate App or Online or Harefield Tackle.
WEATHER:
After Monday next week looking cooler. Looking at the temperatures over the next week during the day – 25° – 20° and 16° to 10° at night. Remember, forecasts change frequently. Always check the local weather outlook before any planned fishing sessions so you are well prepared. In any hot weather make sure you have plenty of fluids, shade and sunscreen. Important Make sure you have a bucket of lake water to wet the surface of your unhooking gear to protect Our fish.
